Following the procedures at the train station, you may find your way to the vehicle rental and pick it up downtown. Alternatively, you can arrive in Riyadh or Dammam, pick it up there, and drive to Al Hofuf. You will get the keys after the automobile formalities are over, at which point you can explore the area and drive to Al Hofuf. Take a car to your lodging. Register at the lodging. Spend the night in AL Hofuf.

Breakfast at the hotel. The capital of Al-Ahsa, an area in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, is Al-Hofuf. With an area of over 85.4 km2 (33.0 sq mi), Al-Ahsa is the largest oasis in the world. It is home to more than 2.5 million palm trees that receive water from a massive subterranean aquifer, enabling year-round agriculture in an otherwise dry region. Al-Ahsa also harbors a long-lost mystery: according to the Greek geographer Strabo, the ancient Arab kingdom of Gerrha had "large homes which have their doors, walls, roofs filled with colors, gold, silver, and holy stones," as well as "fancy tools made out of gold and silver, such as the family gold, right triangles, and their drinking glass."

Archaeologists have not yet located this location, but the contemporary city of Al-Hofuf, where we will begin our investigation of Al-Ahsa, is one possibility.You can explore the Ibrahim Fort and its mosque before going to the Jebel Qarah, a limestone cliff with caverns and a viewpoint overlooking the vast palm tree plantations. This first day at Al-Ahsa might be concluded in Jawatha's old mosque. Stay the night at Al-Hofuf.

Hotel breakfast. You can choose to tour the Al-Ahsa desert today. To begin, there's a breathtaking vantage point on one of the lakes, which is a short distance east of Al-Hofuf and offers a glimpse of the extensive water resources on the Al-Ahsa grounds. Because of the color of the nearby dunes, this unique one is known as the Yellow Lake. Known as sabkha, this region of the Eastern Province consists of level, water-rich plains sandwiched between dunes.

They are especially amazing. 500 kilometers southward in the world's largest sand dunes desert, the Rub' Al-Khali. If you have chosen to drive a 4x4 vehicle, you can have a unique trip across the sabkhas and dunes after the Yellow Lake. You will make your way back by car in the afternoon before you depart. You have two options for returning the vehicle: either return it at the Riyadh or Dammam airports, or drive to the train station and park in the designated rental car return area.
