hotel breakfast. Hail, known for its friendly populace, has long been the literary and poetic capital of Saudi Arabia. One fascinating fact about Hail is that, in the 19th century, the majority of the early European explorers (Charles Doughty, Lady Blunt, Charles Huber, Julius Euting, etc.) traveled through this city. Today, we recommend exploring the city, the A'Arif Fort, and the adjacent historical museum. After that, take a stroll through the traditional market to see the local specialties. Additionally, if the Hail Regional Museum is open, stop by to see its collection. Spend the night at Ha'il.
Breakfast at the hotel. Set out early this morning to travel to Jubbah, which is situated on an old lake. Around the edge of the paleolake, numerous Middle Paleolithic archeological sites indicating human habitation have been discovered. Large sandstone outcrops encircling Jubbah are covered in prehistoric petroglyphs and inscriptions on the rock face. Jubbah profited from previous wet periods that transformed the dry Arabian Peninsula into an African savannah.
Rain from the African monsoon filled rivers and lakes, creating an environment that was ideal for wildlife during the last humid period, which spanned from the 10th to the 6th millennium BCE. In the sixth millennium BCE, desertification caused the creatures that once roamed the area to become extinct. However, certain individuals permanently established their presence in Jubbah with carvings of lions, cheetahs, and aurochs. Several sandstone outcrops on the western side of the paleolake, such as the Jebel Umm Sanman, still have those drawings visible today.
Due to its abundance of petroglyph panels and intricate inscriptions, Jubbah and Shuwaymis, the other significant carving site in Hail Province, were inducted as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2015. You will make your way back by car in the afternoon before you depart. You can drive the vehicle back, give it to the BUDGET staff, and head straight for the train or airport.
